Maxwell Professor Monmonier Contributes Chapter to New Book

Mark Monmonier, Distinguished Professor of Geography, is the author of “Maps as Graphic Propaganda for Public Health,” which appears in Imagining Illness: Public Health and Visual Culture, edited by David Serlin and published this month by the University of Minnesota Press. Monmonier argues that in public health maps are inherently more effective, if not more common, as persuasive graphics than as research tools.
