Catherine Gerard: Best public managers are humble, flexible and quick to share credit.

Many Auburn, NY residents would get an “A” in Catherine Gerard’s seminar on executive leadership at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

Gerard, director of Maxwell’s Program on the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration, studies effective managers. She said research backs what many Auburnians knew instinctively about the qualities needed in the city’s next manager.
