Professor McPeak Co-Authors New Book on the African Economy

Professor John McPeak

Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs John McPeak has co-authored “Risk and Social Change in an African Rural Economy: Livelihoods in Pastoral Communities.” The book presents an overview of a multi-year, USAID-funded project in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia, and describes the cultures and ecology of pastoral areas. The authors examine markets used by pastoralists to sell livestock and livestock products and to purchase consumer goods, before turning to an analysis of evolving livelihood strategies.
