Botswana’s parliament has endorsed Dr. Ponatshego Kedikilwe as the country’s new Vice President, taking over from Mompati Merafhe, who retired last month. Kedikilwe becomes Botswana’s seventh Vice President since independence in 1966.
Kedikilwe has a Masters Degree in Development Economics and Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University in New York. He also continues as Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Minister. An economist by profession, Kedikilwe has held several ministerial positions, including Commerce and Industry, Education, and Finance and Development Planning.
