This new appointment builds on Jones’s 16 year career with the FBI. Beginning in 1996, he investigated drug, violent crime, white-collar crime, and terrorism cases for the Detroit Division’s Kalamazoo Resident Agency. While there, he was a member of the SWAT team and received a Director’s Award for the dismantlement of a domestic terrorist group planning to attack federal, state, and local authorities. Mr. Jones most recently served as a section chief in the Counterintelligence Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Jones received a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from the Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and a master’s degree in social science from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs in 1996. Mr. Jones was an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the FBI.
