Stephen Whitney ’00 MPA Becomes Rhode Island’s First Chief of Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation

stephen whitney bio picRhode Island Deputy Senate Fiscal Advisor Stephen Whitney, a 2000 MPA graduate from the Maxwell School, began a new job this week in the state’s recently created Office of Management & Budget.

According to the job description, Whitney’s new duties will include “leading the OMB’s efforts to implement state personnel reform and improvements” and coordinating efforts “to identify opportunities for department and agency efficiencies.” Whitney will be Rhode Island’s first “Chief of Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation” in the Office of Management & Budget, which is headed by Peter Marino, Whitney’s former boss and colleague in the Senate fiscal office.

In addition to his Maxwell degree, Whitney, 39, has a B.A. in Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan.
