The Maxwell School Germany Alumni Network organized a tour of the Reichstag (German Parliament) in Berlin for student participants in the Maxwell School’s Atlantis Programme on December 3, 2012. The visit to the Reichstag was an opportunity to take a glimpse at the German seat of policymaking up-close as well as to experience a unique tour of a building that has secured its place in history.

As part of the activity, the students and the alumni met with Mr. Ulrich Finkenbusch, Senior Adviser for Foreign Affairs in the German Parliament, and Mr Frederik Ferié, former Adviser on International Politics of the Free Democrats, who discussed a range of pressing security and humanitarian issues and offered the German perspective on foreign policy.

Maxwell alumni Vanessa Remoquillo ( ’07 MPA), Diana Hollman (’09 MAIR) and Hamza Safouane (’10 MAIR/MA (Econ)) led the tour through the Reichstag. The Atlantis Programme students had spent a semester in the Hertie School of Government in Berlin.
