Judge Graves Announced as 2013 MPA Convocation Speaker

justicegraves1[1]The PAIA Department is pleased to announce that the Honorable James E. Graves has been selected as the 2013 MPA Convocation speaker. A JD ’80/MPA ’81 alum, Graves is a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Graves was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals by President Obama in early 2011. Previously, he served on the Mississippi Supreme Court for ten years. Graves has been honored with awards from numerous organizations including the Mississippi Bar Association, the National Bar Association, the National Conference of Black Lawyers and the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning. He has also taught trial advocacy at Harvard Law School, and media law and civil rights law at Jackson State University and Tougaloo College.

The ceremony will take place on June 28, 2013 at 10am in Hendricks Chapel.
