*Archived TweetChat will be available after the event*

In our inaugural TweetChat, we’ll welcome Maxwell alums Josh Nanberg (BA Policy Studies) and Christopher Malagisi (MPA) to a lunchtime chat about their work on political strategy on Capitol Hill. Josh Nanberg (@jnanberg ) is the President of Ampersand Strategies, and Christopher Malagisi (@ChrisMalagisi) is the President & Founder of the Young Conservatives Coalition (YCC).

For alums, this is a great way to network over your lunch break – and students, you can network and attend a career event without coming to campus! For more information how how a TweetChat works, check out the guides available on the Alumni Relations website.

Josh Nanberg is a Washington, D.C.-based communications consultant and political strategist. As president and founder of Ampersand Strategies, Josh draws upon expertise-honed over more than a decade in the trenches of political campaigns at every level of government-to position our clients at the forefront of their movements or the top of their industries.

In addition to his political work, Josh has worked with some of the nation’s leading corporations and most cutting-edge start-ups. He has managed large outreach programs for the Department of Defense and written for some of the biggest names in entertainment, advocacy, politics and the law.

After leaving the campaign trail, Josh served as regional political director for one of the nation’s most well-known grassroots advocacy organizations, training activists to make a convincing case for policy changes at the state and federal levels.

Through his breadth of experience, Josh has developed a unique understanding of the communications tactics that grow a cause into a movement. His grasp of the interplay between politics, policy and communications, and experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors sets him apart from others in the field.

Josh holds bachelor’s degrees in communications and public policy from Syracuse University and a Masters in Government Administration with a concentration in public financial management from the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.

Christopher Malagisi is currently an expert political consultant, specializing in five areas – External Relations & Outreach, Coalition Building, Event Management, Political Training and  Conservatism Education (philosophical and historical) and is a freelance writer for numerous publications.

Malagisi is also an Adjunct Professor at American University teaching History of the Conservative Movement and Campaigns & Political Activism and is President of the Young Conservatives Coalition – a DC-based young professional conservative educational and networking organization that annually distributes the Young Conservative Leadership “William F. Buckley, Jr.” Awards and organizes the annual young professional Reaganpalooza event.  He also currently works on the Mitt Romney Presidential Campaign as a National Advisory Board Member for the Young Americans for Romney coalition.

Previously, he served as the Director of National CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) & External Relations at the American Conservative Union, where he organized CPAC 2012 – the largest-ever political gathering of over 11,000 conservative leaders and activists, organizations, media and academics in the country, including CPAC FL and CPAC Chicago.  He also served as Director of Political & New Media Training at The Leadership Institute.  He has worked on three presidential campaigns, the Republican Party of Virginia, the International Republican Institute (travelling to Afghanistan), Capitol Hill and the College Republican National Committee.

Malagisi was awarded the “2009 Rising Star Award” and was recognized as a “2011 DC Mover & Shaker” from Campaigns & Elections magazine for significant professional achievements in national politics.  He is frequently published and has appeared on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Fox Business and CSPAN as a political analyst. He has a Masters of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs and graduated from American University with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and the Communications, Law, Economics & Government Interdisciplinary, also completing the competitive Leadership Program.  Additionally, he is an alumnus of Semester at Sea (sailing around the world), is originally from Buffalo, NY and has recorded two original piano albums.
