Kaiser earned a PhD in Social Science in 1974. Shortly thereafter, in 1978, he wrote The Building of Cities: Development and Conflict. Offering critical insight to the drawn-out stages and fraught processes of urban development, the book became somewhat of a classic in the field, and for that reason it was republished by Cornell University Press this year. Kaiser’s other recently-released manuscript, Snooks Hollow: A Green Residential Project, is the story of the design, organization, and building of the most sustainable house in the US. Currently, Kaiser is the President and founder of Harvey H. Kaiser Associates, Inc., an architecture, urban planning, and facilities management consulting firm.
