Michael Cox ’08 PSc/Hist is the assistant director of the Office of Government and Community Affairs at New York University

Michael Cox has been named the assistant director of the Office of Government and Community Affairs (OGCA) at New York University. The OGCA keeps the University up-to-date on recent legislation and issues critical to higher education and helps to make the university’s voice heard on vital educational and research interests.

Before Cox worked for New York University, he served as a special assistant for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). The EDA plays a critical role in fostering regional economic development efforts in communities across the nation.

In 2010, Cox worked as the legislative assistant for Congressman Gregory Meeks at the U.S. House of Representatives. In his role as the legislative assistant, he was responsible for developing and planning legislative initiatives. Along with monitoring legislative development within Committees and on the House floor. Some of his other duties included writing floor speeches for the Member and meeting with constituents and special interest groups on behalf of the Member.
