Brian Lock ’90 MPA is the new program manager for the Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) at the WA State Department of Commerce; formerly known as the Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

The CERB was created by the Washington State Legislature in 1982 to respond to local economic development needs in the state’s highest need communities by funding public infrastructure projects that will in turn create jobs, business growth, and expansion.

As Manager, Lock is responsible for assisting the Board in the pre-award and vetting process for approving new grant awards or loans across the state, developing systems to assess risk and fiscal/organizational capacity of potential applicants or planning grants, managing contracts, and promoting the program at local development meetings and conferences.

Prior to his work at CERB, Lock worked for the AmeriCorps program and WA Office of Financial Management for 20 years.
