Valerie Williams ’80 MPA has been made the vice provost for academic affairs and faculty development at the University of Oklahoma

Valerie Williams currently serves as vice provost for academic affairs and faculty development at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Williams is the immediate past-chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) based in Washington, DC. Williams was elected to the AAMC Board in 2008, and voted chair-elect in 2011. Williams is the first African American and non-physician/non-hospital executive to hold the AAMC chair-elect and chair positions.

Williams earned a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School in 1980. She later earned a doctorate in allied health sciences from the University of Oklahoma in 2004.
