University of Maryland has appointed Philip Joyce ’90 PhD PA as Interim Dean of the School of Public Policy

Philip Joyce ’90 PhD PA has been appointed by the University of Maryland Senior Vice President as Interim Dean of the School of Public Policy. Joyce joined the School of Public Policy faculty in 2011, and heads the School’s specialization in Public Sector Financial Management.

Joyce is the author of The Congressional Budget Office: Honest Numbers, Power, and Policymaking and more than 50 other publications. As well as being the Editor of the journal Public Budgeting & Finance and an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration

Joyce has 12 years of public sector work experience, including five years each with the Illinois Bureau of the Budget and the U.S. Congressional Budget Office. In 2012, he was awarded the Aaron Wildavsky Award by the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management for lifetime contributions to the study of public budgeting.

Joyce received his doctorate in public administration from the Maxwell School in 1990.
