Ashok Mehta has been appointed as the Private Secretary to India’s President Pranab Mukherjee. As Private Secretary to the President of India, Mehta supervises the Office of the President. Mehta has been working within the Government of India since 1987. Prior to his appointment as the Private Secretary, Mehta was the Director of the Ministry of Mines for five years and the Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics for six years. As the ADG of the National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics, he was responsible for training new direct recruits of Indian Revenue Service Officers, international cooperation and mid-career training programs.
