Thomas Caruso ’14 JD/MPA receives Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal


Thomas Caruso has been awarded the prestigious Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for receiving two honors. First, he was named the Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic Legal Assistance Attorney of the year for 2015. Second, he was selected as the Junior Officer of the Year in 2016 for his service with the Navy Regional Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia–where he serves as counsel in legal assistance for the trial department. In addition, Caruso is a first tour judge advocate and has held a number of positions in the command, including legal assistance attorney, defense attorney, staff judge advocate, and trial counsel. To top it off, he has volunteered countless hours toward several veterans’ law projects, including one he recently established in association with the ABA Pro Bono project “Lawyers for Warriors,” a program which recruits, trains and matches local attorneys with veterans in need of legal assistance.

Andrew Bobrek ’07 JD/MPA has been placed on the 2016 “Upstate New York Super Lawyer Rising Stars” List

Andrew Bobrek has been recognized in the 2016 Upstate New York Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in the field of employment and labor. To be included on the list, attorneys are selected by peers from a group of the top up-and-coming lawyers, 40 years of age and or younger, or who have been in the practice of law for 10 years or less. Bobrek is an associate at Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC’s Syracuse office, where he represents employers in all areas of labor and employment relations.


Aristotle Evia ’99 JD/MPA writes article on Judge James Graves, Jr. ’81 JD/MPA

Aristotle Evia wrote an article on Judge James Graves, Jr., entitled ‘Lessons From Working For Judge James E. Graves, Jr. L’80’. Graves is currently a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Evia is a former Obama Appointee at the U.S. Department of the Interior and Law Clerk (2011-2012) for Judge Graves.

Jonathan Allen is now serving as the vice president of professional services for Decision Lens, a company that provides the premiere solution for strategic prioritization and resource optimization. In this position Allen oversees implementation, advisory, and analytics services for nearly 100 Decision Lens clients across commercial, federal, state, and local government industries. Prior to his position as vice president, Allen served as the senior client decision manager and soon after as the director for professional services.
